Zii Jia falls in Mulheim


PETALING JAYA: World no. 4 Lee Zii Jia (pic) was unable to shrug off his struggle on the international stage when he crashed out of the German Open in Mulheim on Thursday (March 9).

The top seed was beaten 15-21, 22-20, 23-21 by Taiwan shuttler Lee Chia-hao in the second round.

However, Malaysia had something to cheer for as mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei advanced to the quarter-finals.

They defeated sixth seeds Seo Seung-jae-Chae Yu-jung of South Korea 21-11, 24-22 in the second round.
