Malaysia off to a flying start at World Junior Championships with 5-0 win over Sweden

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia began their campaign in the mixed team event of the World Junior Championships with a 5-0 win over Sweden in Santander, Spain, on Monday (Oct 17).

Justin Hoh (pic) gave Malaysia a flying start in Group A when he defeated Eric Remstedt 21-10, 21-10 in the boys' singles.

Siti Nurshuhaini Azman made it 2-0 after beating Khushi Harakamani 21-12, 21-12 in the girls' singles.

Boys' doubles pair Fazriq Razif-Wong Vin Sean gave Malaysia an unassailable 3-0 lead by beating Victor Morskogen-Daniel Strom 21-12, 21-9.

Girls' doubles combination Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting and mixed doubles duo Bryan Jeremy Goonting-Lee Xin Jie also won their matches to give Malaysia a rousing start.

Malaysia will play Latvia in the second Group A match against Latvia on Tuesday (Oct 18).
