Thomas Cup: Malaysia led by Daren beat United States

BANGKOK: Malaysia led by Liew Daren defeated United States 5-0 in the second Group D tie of the Thomas Cup Finals.

Malaysia did not field Lee Zii Jia and Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik but Daren and rest of the players in the team did not have any difficulties to win their respective matches in straight games at the Impact Arena on Tuesday (May 10).

Daren defeated Enrico Asuncion 21-13, 21-16 to give the first point in 37 minutes.

Ng Tze Yong and Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin took 30 minutes each to beat Don Henley 21-11, 21-9 and William Hu 21-16, 21-17 respectively.

Nur Izzuddin Rumsani was rested while his partner Goh Sze Fei was teamed up with Chia Weijie and the duo defeated Adrian King-Sun-Hendry Tang 21-12, 21-8 in just 22 minutes,

In the last doubles match, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi defeated Asuncion-William 21-16, 21-8.

Malaysia will take on Japan on Wednesday (May 11) at 8pm.
