Chong Wei faces Glasgow ghost Leverdez in first round of World Championships

Tough hurdle: Japan’s Kento Momota may be Lee Chong Wei’s opponent in the semi-finals of the World Championships in Nanjing.

KUALA LUMPUR: As fate would have it, national badminton ace Lee Chong Wei will have France’s Brice Leverdez standing in his way again in the first round of the World Championships in Nanjing from July 30-Aug 5.

The 35-year-old Chong Wei shockingly lost 19-21, 24-22, 17-21 to Leverdez in Glasgow last year as he suffered his worst-ever campaign in the world meet.
