No verdict yet on shuttlers alleged to be involved in match fixing

PETALING JAYA: The waiting game continues for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) as far as the match-fixing issue is concerned.

BAM had hoped for a verdict on two independent shuttlers – Zulfadli Zulkiffli and Tan Chun Seang – who are alleged to be involved in match-fixing and had attended a two-day hearing in Singapore in February.

But the Badminton World Federation (BWF) continued to stay mum on the matter.

“We’ve not received any news from BWF on the match-fixing,” said BAM general manager Michelle Chai.

Meanwhile, BAM’s plan to hold a special session with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) – where all the BAM players were expected to sign an anti-corruption pledge today – has been postponed.

But the BAM council meeting and Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place as planned today.
