Aniq’s record-breaking feat in Qatar a boost for his Olympics chances

KUALA LUMPUR: National weightlifter Mohd Aniq Kasdan’s record-breaking feat at the International Weightlifting Championships in Qatar on Tuesday will brighten his chances of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 21-year-old, who competed in the Group C category of the men’s 61kg event, produced a creditable performance by clearing 126kg in the snatch before strengthening his position by lifting 170kg in the clean and jerk for a total lift of 296kg.
