Syahmi brings cheer with silver in weightlifting

CHONBURI: National weightlifter Mohd Syahmi Nor Ghazali claimed silver in the men’s 94kg category at the Thailand SEA Games.

Syahmi lifted 353kg to come second at the Chonburi Sports School Gymnasium on Tuesday (Dec 16).

Thailand’s Sumpradit Sarat captured the gold after managing to lift 366kg while Vietnam’s Tran Xuan Dung took home bronze after lifting 337kg.

Meanwhile, Mohd Hafizuddin Roslin agonisingly missed out on a medal in the men’s 88kg category after lifting 340kg.

Bronze went to Thailand’s Worrapot Nasuriwong, who lifted 341kg while Vietnam’s Nguyen Quoc Toan won silver after lifting 361kg.

Indonesia’s Rahmat Erwin Abdullah captured gold after managing to lift 362kg.
