AI is exposing long-hidden security flaws – is M’sia ready?

THE recent discovery of serious vulnerabilities in PHP, a programming language behind many websites, should concern anyone who shops online, uses digital banking, or relies on government services. The flaws could allow attackers to access sensitive information or take control of affected servers.

What makes this incident particularly significant is the role artificial intelligence (AI) played in uncovering the flaws. Researchers used advanced AI tools to investigate weaknesses that had remained hidden for more than a decade. That is good news for defenders, but it raises an uncomfortable question: Could attackers use similar capabilities to discover and exploit weaknesses?
