Schools must be safe for every child

THE death of 16-year-old Irene Sofia is a heartbreaking loss for her family, friends, school community and all Malaysians. We extend our deepest condolences to those who knew and loved her.

Her passing should also prompt the nation to reflect seriously on how we protect children in and around schools without prejudging the facts or speculating about the circumstances.
