We need better contingency plans for ERL disruptions

A RECENT incident involving the suspension of Express Rail Link (ERL) services to the KL Inter-national Airport due to technical issues caused significant disruption to travellers and airport users. This matter must be taken seriously as it undermines Malaysia’s efforts to promote tourism, particularly during Visit Malaysia 2026.

At the very least, clear and effective contingency plans must be implemented whenever such disruptions occur. Most foreign tourists would obviously be unfamiliar with Malaysia’s public transportation network and may not know how to reach the airport through alternative routes. Unlike local commuters, first-time visitors often have limited knowledge of the location of transport hubs and replacement services.
