More can be done to protect victims of bullying: safety in preventive measures


The Education Ministry has recently disclosed that bullying cases in schools have declined, from a peak of 7,681 cases recorded nationwide in 2024 to 2,889 cases last year. While this sharp reduction is commendable, more must still be done to better protect and support victims of bullying.

Bullying is a serious issue that manifests in many forms. Beyond physical aggression, emotional and psychological bullying remain equally harmful yet often less visible. This highlights the importance of emotional awareness among both educators and students, as recognising early signs of bullying is the first step towards effectively addressing it.
