MyKiosk problems undeniable, says MCA Youth

The latest media reports from Taman Senawang Perdana, Seremban, paint a shameful picture: a MyKiosk site abandoned, filthy, and even covered in bird droppings. This is not an isolated case – it is the reality of a failed project under the Housing and Local Government Ministry led by YB Nga Kor Ming.

From day one, MCA Youth warned that MyKiosk risked becoming a white elephant. Today, the evidence is undeniable. Empty kiosks, zero foot traffic, and traders left frustrated – this is what the people see. Yet, instead of answering these concerns, the minister hides behind MACC’s technical finding of “no criminal wrongdoing” as if that absolves him of responsibility. It does not.

The key questions remain:

1. Why were these kiosks priced so far above market value?;
2. For such inflated costs, is the project even worth the money spent?; and
3. How can a project meant to help micro traders end up abandoned and irrelevant?

The minister cannot run from these questions. The failures are clear, and they are happening under his watch. Citing the MACC is a convenient distraction, but it does nothing to address the waste, mismanagement, and misplaced priorities of his ministry.

What is most insulting to the public is the refusal of the minister and certain DAP leaders to even acknowledge what everyone can see. Photos, videos, and direct complaints from traders and residents are piling up. Are we to believe all these people are lying? Of course not. The only people in denial are those in power.

MCA Youth does not raise this issue out of malice, but out of responsibility. Small traders who were promised opportunities are instead left with empty kiosks in unsuitable locations. The public sees millions wasted on a programme that has failed. And yet, the minister continues to look the other way.

Accountability begins at the top. The Housing and Local Government Minister cannot continue to wash his hands of this mess. The failures of MyKiosk are his failures. The rakyat deserves an honest answer – not excuses, not deflections, and not selective blindness.
