Redefining Malaysia’s youth

IN Malaysia, “youth” is officially defined as anyone aged 15 to 35. On paper, this may sound inclusive. In practice, it raises an important question: Does someone at 34 truly face the same struggles as someone at 19?

The United Nations defines youth as 15 to 24. By comparison, Malaysia’s higher ceiling risks diluting the meaning of youth and slowing the pace of generational renewal in leadership and policymaking.
