Strata developments need reform and support

Vertical communities: Penang is expected to have more people living in strata properties than landed homes in the coming years. — CHAN BOON KAI/The Star

I WOULD like to extend my sincere congratulations to Penang’s State Land and Mines Office for successfully organising a Town Hall on strata development on June 21. The strong turnout – which included strata property owners from neighbouring states – underscores the urgency and relevance of the issues discussed.

It is a clear indication of the growing concern among a significant segment of the population who, out of necessity rather than choice, have turned to strata properties for homeownership. In fact, Penang is expected to have more people living in strata properties than landed homes in the coming years.
