Stop early EPF withdrawals


THE Employees Provident Fund (EPF) should go back to serving its original purpose. It is not for withdrawing funds from in the midst of one’s working life.

The backlash from the populist political move to allow early withdrawals is now coming back to us – the rakyat, not the politicians – and many are facing retirement lives tainted with uncertainties. For example, many private sector employees now can’t afford treatment at private hospitals and end up in a queue at public ones.
