WITH Malaysia fast becoming an ageing nation according to the World Bank and United Nations, there is a growing business in catering to this segment with private aged care homes – there are reportedly some 1,400 of them in the country. But how many of these can ordinary seniors afford?

Reports state that the market for upscale at-home care, home caregivers, and nursing homes alone could be worth RM2bil currently. Their clients are empty nesters, slightly older but still active seniors who might sell the family home and downsize.
