THE attack on the police station in Ulu Tiram, Johor, last Friday has shocked the nation to its core.

There have been many comments about the incident in which two police constables were killed and another seriously wounded. But before one can adequately articulate and formulate new ideas about the attack, it’s imperative to have adequate knowledge about the assailant’s background and history.
