MALAYSIA was ranked world number one in terms of tobacco black market prevalence by Euromonitor International in 2020. It remains on the top 10 list of countries responsible for the global illicit wildlife trade.
The black market trade, which includes counterfeit goods, amounts to an estimated RM300bil or 21% of our gross domestic product (GDP) annually.
