Strike a balance for harmony

IT is truly disheartening that confusion can arise over messages that can be written on cakes, “No ban on Christmas cakes for halal certificate holders, says Mohd Na’im” (The Star, Dec 17).

During a season that celebrates goodwill and unity, the “ruling” that the words “Merry Christmas” cannot be written on cakes otherwise bakeries risk losing their halal certification does indeed sound ridiculous.
