Put off by inflexible demands

IN Malaysia, there are three different entities that protect and collect royalties on behalf of songwriters, composers, music publishers, recording companies and recording performers. These are the Music Authors’ Copyright Protection Berhad (MACP), Public Performance Malaysia Berhad (PPM) and Recording Performers Malaysia Berhad (RPM).

Lately, these entities have resorted to harassing businesses that use music in their premises for royalty payments signed before the Covid-19 pandemic.
