A small victory for consumers

End of the monopoly: Motorists will be able to use their credit/debit cards to pay toll on five roads by September this year.

THANK you, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for the promise to reconsider the Touch ‘n Go (TNG) monopoly of the highway toll collection system, “PM will look into TnG monopoly of highway toll collection system” (The Star, March 19; online at https://bit.ly/3Z4smup).

It was also music to our ears, hearing the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC) stating that it is firmly behind the government’s move to address the issue, “MyCC stands firm with the public on Touch ‘n Go” (The Star, March 22; online at https://bit.ly/3lAaPN3).
