BLESSED with a tropical climate and abundant rainfall, Malaysia has a plentiful supply of clean water that meets international standards. This has enabled it to make significant progress in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) – ensuring access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene for all of the population by 2030.
According to the World Health Organisation, 98% of Malaysians now have access to improved drinking water sources. This is a significant improvement from the 1990s when only around 70% had access to safe drinking water.
