Meetings raise concern


THE Malaysian Council for Tobacco Control (MCTC) and local anti-tobacco advocates were strengthened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s clear policy direction for the country, as outlined in his book, “Membangun Negara Madani: Visi dan Kerangka Dasar Reformasi (Developing a Civilized Nation: Vision and Framework of Reform Policies).

In the section on institutional empowerment (p157-161), Anwar stresses that legislation will be brought to Parliament to reduce health risks from, among others, the use of tobacco products.
