Fight graft without racial lens

WE have just celebrated our 65th National Day and will soon commemorate Malaysia Day. In the spirit of nation-building, it seems timely to address the recent statement by Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang about non-Muslims and corruption.

In my opinion, his statement, “Hapuskan pemberi rasuah”, published in Harakah Daily on Aug 20, was his personal view and does not reflect the stand of his political party. However, Abdul Hadi must be aware that he is in a position of leadership within PAS and his views may therefore influence not only his party members but also the wider Muslim population here in Malaysia and abroad.
