Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has said the Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) Malaysia Study Group recorded 174 cases of the syndrome, with 57% involving children aged 5 to 11.
In addition, the study found seven deaths of children (4%) resulting from MIS-C. With only 14.5% of the population of children aged five to 11 in Malaysia having received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine as of Feb 20, it is a race against time to protect them against life-threatening complications such as MIS-C.
