Finding the freedom in our lockdown


TODAY is the 64th anniversary of our National Day. Some people may feel it is ironical to celebrate the country’s freedom when our individual freedom is currently restricted by the Covid-19 pandemic. But truth be told, lockdowns help us gain our freedom. It may sound ridiculous but it makes sense if we really think about it.

Arguably speaking, lockdowns give us a special amount of free time. This is our chance to reorganise our lives and rethink our priorities. In pre-pandemic days, many people lived frazzled lives, striving to perform well in careers and studies either to achieve personal goals or meet expectations. In fact, I know some wished to clone themselves and have more than 24 hours a day!
