I REFER to The Star ’s report dated Feb 12 and am encouraged by the positive public reaction to my proposal to start a Community Chest for the benefit of the rakyat during these trying times (“Community Chest drive gets rakyat nod”; online at bit.ly/star_chest).
The gist of the proposal was that the Chest is to be instituted by the government and then organised and run by the rakyat for the rakyat.
