I WAS shocked to find out that Pos Malaysia has stopped sending mail overseas due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Yesterday, I went to buy stamps to use for posting Christmas cards to friends in other countries. I was told that Pos Malaysia now only delivers mail to local addresses and Singapore.
As postal service is essential, this is a disservice to Malaysians and forces us to use the more expensive private courier firms.
Cost for postage of cards locally has also increased by 60% from 50sen to 80sen in the past year. This is unacceptable.
The government should ensure that increases in postal charges are in tandem with inflation and costs. It must also ensure that Pos Malaysia continues its overseas mail service.
