Challenges for parents working from home

REMEMBER Professor Robert E. Kelly who became famous overnight when he was interrupted by his two small children during a live television interview with BBC in 2017?

Today, a similar situation could well happen to any parent working from home due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

As a working parent with four young children, life has never been more demanding now with the current pandemic. Although I rejoice in the freedom from being allowed to work from home, it comes with a share of challenges.

Working at home is harder than we thought, especially when your children are pulling at your legs every five minutes. School closures also mean that parents now have the extra task of guiding their kids with their schoolwork.

For me, the biggest sore point is staying focused on our tasks while looking after the kids and doing house chores at the same time.

People say make the most of your time when you are at home with your children. Easier said than done. For this, I applaud all working parents out there who are struggling to finish their job yet still manage to beat the clock.
