Prices go up, they never go down

IT was reported that “The reopening of barbershops and hair salons... could see the price of services going up between RM5 and RM10 due to increases in the operating cost per customer” (“No scalping, just operating cost hike”, The Star, June 7; online at bit.ly/star_barbers).

Malaysia Hair Salon Owners Association chairman AK Selvan explained the increase by saying that operators haven’t had any income for the past three months and that they would now “have to buy sanitisers, disinfectants and disposable gloves, capes and aprons in order to adhere to the SOP”.
