I READ with interest the letter by the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB), “Leading in rubber research” (The Star, Jan 6) because my father used to be a rubber smallholder before he passed on.

As an inventor and entrepreneur myself, my interest was further piqued when MRB claimed that the Automated Rubber Tapping System (ARTS) was actually first invented and patented by MRB as early as 2011.
