Open more spaces for recreation

TODAY, millions of Malaysians live in apartments and flats where recreational facilities are limited. Many are left without open spaces where they can walk about or do simple exercises.

Greater Kuala Lumpur, comprising the city centre and nine municipalities, has a total population of 7.7 million, nearly half of whom live in high-rise buildings and crowded shophouses bereft of large open spaces within easy reach. The situation is the same, if not worse, in other large cities like George Town and Johor Baru.
