I WAS at the old Coliseum Café in Kuala Lumpur when an unexpected incident happened. I met a 70-year-old friend there on Monday, and we were recalling the good times of the 1960s and 1970s while having tea when my friend excused himself to go to the washroom.

Suddenly I saw him coming back, walking unsteadily and calling for help with a weak voice. Then he fainted.
