Managing the stray problem

AFTER undertaking many initiatives on my own and gathering feedback from government authorities and NGOs involved in animal welfare, I put up a proposal on the way forward in managing the stray population in our country. Generally, stray management efforts are not being carried out in an efficient and humane manner, with some parties resorting to poisoning the animals, shooting them with arrows and at times employing private hunters to kill them. These actions are done out of fear, ignorance or simply from lack of empathy.

In recent times, the number of abuse cases has increased, but no action has been taken against the alleged perpetrators. This could be due to lack of thought that all lives matter and that we, as humans, have the responsibility to manage these issues with compassion.
