Heed call to employ ex-convicts

I REFER to the call by Human Resources Minister S.Kulasegeran for ex-convicts to be employed. It is a known fact that the recidivism risk among ex-prisoners is high.

Society and community leaders might consider the call by the minister to give ex-offenders an opportunity to rebuild their lives by providing them with the relevant technical skills for jobs such as a car mechanic, carpenter, plumber or electric wiremen. This would rebuild trust and confidence and also free them from unfounded
