THE Royal Malaysian Police have announced that they are working to bring home Malaysian Islamic State (IS) fighters and their families from Syria. It is understandable that this can sound rather alarming from a layman’s perspective as these are high-risk individuals who may possibly threaten the national security of the country.

It is commendable, however, that our government, particularly the security forces, are being proactive in this effort rather than allowing them to return illegally and undetected.
