Where is the succession plan for police chief?

I READ with interest the announcement by Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that a decision would soon be made on the replacements for the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and deputy IGP as the incumbents are due to retire.

I find it hard to believe that the government is only now considering the replacements for the two top posts in the police force. I have served under many IGPs in my career spanning 38 years and there had always been a smooth transition of power when one retired.
