Push for workplace anti-discrimination law

THE call for the enactment of a specific law on workplace discrimination should be viewed positively by all in the country and taken into serious consideration by the Government especially in the wake of the case of Muslim women working in hotels who were reportedly banned from wearing the hijab (head scarf) at work.

Workplace discrimination should not be taken lightly as it affects not only the wellbeing of the individuals targeted but also the reputation and productivity of the department or organisations that practise such discrimination either openly or secretly.
