UPSR and PMR should be retained

THERE is a call to abolish the UPSR, our primary school examination, as reported in “It’s a good move to abolish UPSR, says NUTP” (The Star, Nov 29).

The UPSR and PMR have been held for many years and they do serve as a useful yardstick in gauging the performance of students at the primary school and junior high school respectively.
