Eye-opener on importance of sex education

REFERRING to the report “615 students pregnant in Perak last year” (Star Online, Oct 12), this is an eye-opener for all educators and parents on the importance of sex education.

As an educator, I have observed that pregnancy among students is due to various reasons including lack of parental supervision and attention from the family, poor academic qualification, peer influence, low socio-economic status, raised by single parent, poor communication, and most of all lack of sexual and reproductive knowledge.
