Mak Intan deserves help

WHAT a great letter by S. Param on the response to World Animal Day in Malaysia, “A day in need of more light” (The Star, Oct 5). And what wonderful suggestions to have animal welfare awareness and education workshops, shelter open days and pet adoption events, seminars to educate owners of working animals, school-related events for children, spay and neuter campaigns, veterinary treatment camps and radio and TV interviews.

Mak Intan, who is caring for 700 stray cats and dogs in Alor Setar, sounds like a truly selfless and compassionate person and I agree that it would be wonderful if federal and state authorities could help her to continue with her noble and exemplary service to unwanted cats and dogs.
