RECENTLY, Deputy Education Minister Chong Sin Woon was reported saying that the country is facing “a shortage of Chinese language teachers despite statistics from the Education Ministry indicating there is an excess”.
In the report, “Shortage of Chinese teachers is real” (The Star, Aug 13), he further pointed out that the “only way to solve this problem is to change the calculation method to reflect the true situation”.
