DURING the past month of Ramadan, many deadly attacks were orchestrated by Islamic State, also known in Arabic as Al-Dawla Al-Islamiya Fi Iraq Wa Al-Sham (Daesh).

The attack on Ataturk Airport, Istanbul, which claimed the lives of more than 40 people, the hostage incident in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the deadly bomb blasts in Iraq which killed hundreds, and the series of bomb attacks in Saudi Arabia, including one close to the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, clearly show the group’s determination to carry out their deadly operations against soft targets and innocent civilians.
