Biodiversity key to progress

MAY 22 is International Day for Biodiversity. It is a day to celebrate the diversity of life on earth. We are part of this amazing, intricate yet fragile web of life that makes this planet home to six to 10 million species (actually, we really do not know how many).

This September the world community will adopt a new set of development goals known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals are envisaged to deflect the current global development trajectory to a more sustainable path while taking into account elements of wellbeing and inclusive growth. The SDGs will be based on a different set of responsibilities among developed and developing countries.
