Maintaining a higher level of efficiency

I REFER to the news article, “Freeze must not impact nation” (The Star, May 7), where it was reported that the freeze on all civil service recruit-ments must be done with caution to prevent a negative impact on the nation’s administration.

Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli) director Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam was reported as saying “It is a drastic and painful move. However, it is necessary if the Government wants a civil service that is more trimmed, lean and efficient.”
