Service charge should be properly regulated

THE service charge was introduced in the 1960s in the hotel industry. Currently is the norm in hotels and F&B outlets, from restaurants to kopitiam, to charge this 10% fee.

In the hotel industry, service charge is collected by the hotel and has to be distributed to its employees in accordance with the Service Charge Point allocation under their Collective Agreement after a 10% deduction for administrative purposes.
