Replace metal manhole covers with concrete ones

IT was sad to read about a four-year-old boy who drowned after falling into a water-filled manhole at a school in Maran, Kuantan.

The school authorities should have taken the proactive step of covering the exposed manhole with wood as an interim measure while waiting for the cover to be replaced by the local authority.
