I WAS disturbed by the statement of Cargill CEO David MacLennan in his interview with CNN in New York a couple nights ago insinuating that deforestation is the main cause of climate change. Because of that, Cargill will reconsider buying crude palm oil (CPO) from deforested areas.
Cargill being one of the buyers of Sarawak CPO, such an attitude could derail Sarawak’s effort to eradicate rural poverty.
