A day to remember Nelson Mandela


I AM compelled to write about this great son of our new world called Mandela. Nelson Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day), an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela, is celebrated each July18 (on Mandela’s birthday). The day was officially declared by the United Nations in November 2009, with the first UN Mandela Day held in 2010.

A loss of a great son, the grief of this century, is the passing away of Nelson Mandela. He is an icon of peace, reconciliation, tolerance, wisdom and, selflessness. A visionary leader and a unifier.
