IF I didn’t know any better, I would have thought the author of the article, “End the conveyancing monopoly” (The Star, May 9) was a layperson who had a particularly unpleasant experience dealing with conveyancing lawyers rather than someone who was not only the former de facto law minister but also the founder of one of Malaysia’s largest legal firms.

As a conveyancing lawyer, I have come to expect such criticisms from members of the public but to read the same from one of our country’s most well-known lawyers is just too much.
